Washing ‘The Moth’ Truck with Truckin’ with CJ

We had the pleasure of catching up with WA’s Truckin’ with CJ (Casurina Smith) on her way across the country to the Casino Truck Show.

Her truck ‘The Moth’ had spent quite a bit of time chasing the white line to get here and was in need of a detail.

We hit it with all of our best products to get rid of road grime, grease, oil, red dirt, bug splatter and sticky glue residues. Watch the process below:

Start with a Degreaser

Start with RG Degreaser. It gets all of the impregnated dirty parts of chassis, wheel arches and wheels. We could use this across the entire truck as there was no polished metal. Watch where and how we spray on using it straight and then wash off before it dries. It also pulls the WA red dirt out of the tyres to bring them back to black.

The RG Degreaser is a non-caustic degreaser which means it is less corrosive.

Cannot be used on polished metal.

Not all Degreasers are the same

While RG Degreaser is our most popular pre-wash degreaser, there are some stubborn and specific grimes that need a different approach. We used Oxiblast on red dirt build up for fast removal and Master Degreaser in areas.

We start with Oxi-Blast (the red bottle), which is an acid based product. You would never use this on polished metals, but to get red dirt out of aluminium or alloy, it works a treat!

For grease, oil and road grime we used the Master Degreaser (the black bottle), which is a caustic degreaser, is the better choice to tackle this.

This is a great demonstration of where to, and where not to, use different products for different grimes.

Targeting tar and sticky residues

GRL is our targeted degreaser for removing tar, sticky residue and wax. CJ had some old glue reside from lights and reflectors which we used the GRL to clean. Quick and easy, the GRL cleaned it right up.

The Purple Power Foam Wash

Using a pressure washer and ratio of 3 to 1, our Purple Power Wash and Wax is PH neutral and can be used on all surfaces. One canister of mixed Purple Power will wash the whole truck.

You can see how it pulls dirt and grime, leaving a showroom shine without the need for scrubbing!

Final Touches

We finished the clean with some Pro Shine Tyre Shine and Final Reflection Spray Wax.

When using Final Reflection it helps get the last bits of water beading and water marks.

It is important when using Final Reflection that you DO NOT use it over any grit, as it will scratch. You do not need to use much, spray it on and rub with a microfibre cloth until dry. We used it on the paint, metals, rims and glass windows, which helps with beading of water.

Once it was done, CJ was on her way to the Show!
